Thomas BARNES, who has resided in Fairfield since October, 1855, died at the home of his son Benjamin in this city Tuesday, after a protracted illness. Deceased was in the 86th year of his age. He was born in Maryland, but at an early age removed with his family to Steubenville, Ohio, and lived there and at Mansfield until his removal to Iowa. At Mansfield he was married to Miss Sallie CASE, who died here in 1866. Seven children were born to them, two sons and five daughters, three of whom are now living--Benjamin and Mrs. Guy BEATTY in this city, and Samuel at Washington, Kansas. He was married a second to Mrs. Mary BLOOMFIELD, whose death occurred in 1883. Mr. BARNES had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church since his 25th year and was also a Mason of many years' standing. In earlier life he was an industrious and energetic man, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. As old age came upon him he retired from the active affairs of life, and recently his home has been spent with his children. The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon, and the body was interred with Masonic rites.
