MRS. J. C. BARNES DIED EARLY THIS MORNING.

Mrs. J. C. BARNES, a well known and highly respected resident of this city, died this morning at 12:45 at her home, 303 East Washington street, after a lingering illness due to old age. She had been confined to her bed for the past seven weeks.

Sarah Amelia MARSHALL, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart MARSHALL, was born December 3rd, 1838, in Baltimore, Maryland.

On August 21st, 1866, in Pennsylvania, she was united in marriage to J. C. BARNES (sic - John Clark BARNES). In 1880 they moved to Cedar township and in 1896 they moved to this city where they have since resided. To this union were born seven children, who with the father, are left to mourn the death of a loving wife and mother. They are John M. of Ottawa, Kan.; Mrs. E. E. DUNLAP, of Canyon City, Co,l.; (sic) Mrs. Geo. C. WOODS, Mrs. Wm. CUMMINGS, Charles M. and Mrs. Ray KIRKPATRICK all of this city; and Mrs. J. C. McGAUGHEY of Keokuk, Iowa. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Pressly LEECH, of Washington county, Pa.

She has long been a faithful member of the Presbyterian church and has lived according to its teaching.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from the home, Rev. Mosser in charge, and interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
