May T. BARNES, 95, former resident of Fairfield, died Wednesday at her home in Worthington, Ohio, where she had lived for the past eight years.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Evergreen Cemetery with Philip Young officiating.
Members of the family will receive friends at the Raymond Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
May T. BARNES was born Feb. 2, 1884, in Monroe County. She was the daughter of Isaac and Ella TURNER.
She taught two years in Monroe County schools and enrolled at Parsons College in 1903. Her business career spanned a period of more than 60 years. She was employed by various Fairfield attorneys as an abstractor before retiring in 1968.
Her marriage to Charles M. BARNES took place May 28, 1912, in Monroe County. He died June 26, 1932.
Mrs. BARNES was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, a 75-year member of the Rebekah Lodge and a member of the Fancy Work Circle. She received the lodge's Decoration for Chivalry in 1951 and is a past noble grand of Lodge No. 96.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Marshall BARNES, Worthington, Ohio; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a sister.
In addition to her husband Mrs. BARNES was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche TURNER, who made her home with Mrs. BARNES for a number of years.
