Many Fairfield people were shock-- Thursday eve when it was learned that James BARGAR (sic - BARGER) had died suddenly of an attack of heart trouble at the Second Hand store of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Shaffer in New Chicago. Mr. BARGAR had been in ill health for several months and had been unable to work but had been feeling better the past few weeks.

Yesterday he was assisting Mr. Shaffer about the store and was seemingly in good spirits and health. About six o'clock he sat down and taking an old violin he began playing when he fell to the floor. Mr. and Mrs. Shaffer hastened to his side and were horrified to find that he was dead.

Mr. BARGAR was fifty-seven years of age (sic - 58) and had made his home in Fairfield for many years. His wife died about six years ago (sic - in 1906) and there is now surviving him three daughters and a son.
