R. BARBER dead at 56

Robert L. BARBER, J. (sic - Robert L. BARBER, Jr.), 56, 1120 E. Madison, died Monday, 12:45 p.m., at Jefferson County Hospital.

He was born April 16, 1923 in Fairfield, the son of Robert and Eva REED BARBER Sr. He married Doris R. BROCK Aug. 29, 1942 at Lancaster, Mo. A mechanic for more than 40 years, he was an auto mechanic and service manager at Wean Chevrolet and Oldsmobile. He was a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his mother of Fairfield; his wife; three daughters, Judith WESTFALL of Clarksburg, W. Va., Debby VAN BLARICOME and Terri Jo BARBER, both of Fairfield; five sons, Randy of West Chicago, Ill., Leo, Gary, John, and Robert L. III, all of Fairfield; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Leo of Davenport; three sisters, Ila THOMAS of Tampa, Fla., Shirley BRADLEY of Libertyville and Beverly WINTERS of Geneseo, Ill.

One brother and two sisters proceded (sic) him in death.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 2:30 p.m., at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn Bergfalk officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation wil be Wednesday, 7 to 8 p.m., at Behner Funeral Home.
