Carl BABCOCK Dies Suddenly

Carl Vernon BABCOCK, 63, former Fairfield resident and retired foundry superintendent passed away Sunday, June 19, following a heart attack. Mr. BABCOCK made his home in Lansdale, Pa., and was visiting his daughter Mrs. Clifford (Iva) HUMMELL at Newton, Iowa when he suffered the attack.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 23, at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Alvin Nelson in charge. Burial in Evergreen cemetery.

He was born Nov. 15, 1902 in Fairfield the son of George and Ivy Luella BATES BABCOCK. He received his education in Fairfield and was married August 10, 1925 in Bloomington, Ill., to Katherine M. MATT. He lived in Fairfield until 1918 and in Illinois until 1934 and then the family moved to Newton where they resided until 1950 when they moved to Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles and Moose lodges and the Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. HUMMELL and Mrs. Douglas (Caroline) BOCK of Moline, Ill., and three sons, E. Vernon, Fullerton, Calif.; Joseph C., and David L. of Lansdale, Pa.; 14 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Clair DUNBAR of New London and three brothers, Kirby, Monravia, Calif., and Herbert and Richard BABCOCK of Fairfield.

One daughter, Betty Jean, preceded him in death in 1964, also his parents and 2 brothers.
