Earl William BABCOCK, former resident of Fairfield and an employe at the Dexter plant for 30 years, took his own life by poisoning at Nashville, Tenn., Saturday.
He moved to Tennessee a few years ago when he was transferred from the plane (sic - plant) here in Fairfield to the Philco plant at Nashville.
Last rites will be here at Fairfield. The services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Dr. J. Henry Teele in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Earl William BABCOCK, 49, was born March 24, 1909, in Pennsylvania, the son of the late George H. and Iva BATES BABCOCK. He was reared and educated in Fairfield, and married May 20, 1927, to Margaret FRAKES who survives. The wedding took place at Fairfield.
He was a resident of Fairfield for 45 years, moving here when a small child. He was a member of the Elks lodge, the Methodist church and was employed at the Dexter plant for 30 years.
Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Beverly, at home. He is also survived by four brothers: Carl, Lansdale, Pa.; Herbert, Fairfield; Richard, Fairfield; and Kirby, Monrovia, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Mary DUNBAR, New London.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jack.
