ALFRED ATHERTON DIED LAST NIGHT
Funeral Services Tomorrow Afternoon at 2:00 From Son's Home, 2nd Street

Alfred ALTHERTON died last evening at 7:30 o'clock at the home of his son Herbert ATHERTON, after an illness of several months.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the ATHERTON home, 901 south Second street in charge of Rev. R. H. Polly. Interment will be made in the Evergreen cemetery.

He was born February 20, 1857, in Cainesvelle, Mo. and came to this city when 17 years of age, and has made this his home since. He is survived by his wife and one son Herbert. A daughter passed away 11 years ago today.

OBITUARY

Alfred ATHERTON

Alfred ATHERTON, son of David and Phoebe ATHERTON, was born in Cainsville, Mo., February 20, 1857, and died at the home of his son Herbert in Fairfield, Ia., January 22, 1926. At the age of seventeen years he moved to this state and has since made his home in or near Fairfield.

On February 22, 1882, he was united in marriage to Margaret BOYD at Birmingham, Ia. To them were born two children, Herbert and a daughter Olive, who passed away just eleven years ago, also a grandson who died ten days after his mother.

Those left to mourn his passing are the wife, son, daughter_in-law (sic) and grandson, Truman BAILEY.

He united with the Christian church more than thirty years ago.

Funeral services were held from the son's home, Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock by his pastor Rev. R. H. Polly of the Christian church and interment was in Evergreen cemetery.
