Donna J. Schlarbaum, 73, of Ottumwa, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

The funeral was at 11 a.m. today, at Shrine of Memories Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Spiegel officiating. Burial was in the Shrine of Memories Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to a library children's section.

Mrs. Schlarbaum was born the daughter of Raymond and Gertrude McDonogh Patkin. She married Phillip T. Schlarbaum Nov. 13, 1952, in Fairfield.

She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1950.

She was a volunteer librarian for an elementary school in Fond du Lac, Wis., and a teacher's aide in an elementary school in Hazel Crest, Ill. She also was involved in several educational and children's programs.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Kim Kriva and husband Jim and Allison Schlarbaum; one son, Steven Schlarbaum; two sisters, Rosemarie Chapman and Patty Adams; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond Patkin and Timothy Patkin; one infant daughter, Candace; and one granddaughter.
