FUNERAL IS TUESDAY 2 P.M.

Body of Gustaf ANDERSON to lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m.

Gustaf Peter ANDERSON, 87, a resident of Jefferson county for 72 years, passed away Saturday noon, Jan. 11, 1941 at the home of his son, Dale ANDERSON, 602 West Adams, following several years illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Lutheran church in charge of the Rev. E. A. Piper. The body will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m. at the church. Until that time it will remain at the Weston Behner funeral home. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. ANDERSON was born June 14, 1853 in Vestergottland, Sweden and came to the United States at the age of 15. He was the son of Andrew and Emma ANDERSON. He was offered $8 a month as a hired man by a Swedish family, north of Glendale. He did not accept this offer because he wanted to work for a family where he could learn the English language so he accepted a place at $7 a month.

He was united in marriage to Emma Caroline ANDERSON on Feb. 6, 1879 in the English Lutheran church here in Fairfield by Rev. J. S. Benzon. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Although the last name of both the families was ANDERSON they were not related.

He started farming on a farm six miles northeast of Fairfield and lived in Jefferson county throughout his married life. He retired from farming in 1926.

He is survived by wife, Emma Caroline ANDERSON, one daughter Mrs. L. E. GIRE, Batavia, Iowa and four sons, Dale ANDERSON, Fairfield, Clarence W. and Carl F. ANDERSON both of Burlington, Iowa; Ralph W. ANDERSON of Rainier, Oregon.

There are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
