ALLENDER Rites To Be Saturday

Last rites for Edgar L. ALLENDER, 83, former resident of Fairfield, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home.

Services at the funeral home and at the cemetery will be in charge of Clinton Lodge No. 15, AF and AM. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

He passed away Thursday about 8:30 a.m. in the Mercy Hospital at Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA) where he had been seriously ill the past three days with pneumonia.

Edgar L. ALLENDER was born April 17, 1885, in Jefferson County, the son of Knox and Margaret GORDAN (sic - GORDON) ALLENDER. He spent all of his life except the past 12 years in Fairfield and Jefferson county.

Mr. and Mrs. ALLENDER moved to Florida twelve years ago where they lived before returning to Iowa City.

He was married July 10, 1919, to Alberta HOAGLAND, who survives. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Clinton Lodge No. 15, AF and AM, in Fairfield; and Kaaba Shrine Club of Davenport. He had been a member of the Masons for 53 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Charles L. ALLENDER, Iowa City, and three grandchildren.
