R. P. ADAMS dies at 49

Robert P. ADAMS, 49, native of Fairfield, died suddenly at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids (note: in Linn Co., IA). He became ill at his home and died upon arrival at the hospital.

Services will be in Fairfield. They will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Carl Riggs officiating. Interment will be Evergreen Cemetery.

ADAMS had been employed by the Iowa National Insurance Co. at Cedar Rapids for the past 22 years. He was born Jan. 12, 1930, in Fairfield. He was the son of Robert and Edna DIMMITT ADAMS.

He was reared and educated in Fairfield. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1948 where he excelled in sports. He was also a graduate of Parsons College.

His marriage to Lois CLAMPITT took place July 29, 1956. She survives.

In addition to his widow, ADAMS is also survived by three daughters, Sabrina, Sheila and Jennifer; also his mother, Edna ADAMS, 606 S. Fourth. His father is deceased.

Members of the family will be at the Weston Behner Funeral Home from 7 to 8 tonight for visitation.
