RITES SUNDAY FOR MRS. SMITH
Well Known Jefferson County Woman Passed Away Yesterday

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock for Mrs. Arie Elizabeth SMITH, widow of Winfield Scott SMITH, who passed away at 10 o'clock last evening at her home, eight miles southeast of the city. The last rites will be held from the family home with Rev. W. W. Pool officiating. Interment in Wright cemetery.

Mrs. SMITH was born July 18, 1852 in Ohio. She moved with her parents to Jefferson county at the age of two years and she has since made her home here. Her husband preceded her in death December 1, 1923. She is survived by the following children: Willis W. at home, Harlan E. SMITH of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Nettie L. MAHON of Stockport, and Mrs. Clara E. EDWARDS of Farmington.

SERVICES FOR MRS. S. SMITH
Rev. G. W. Pool Officiated; Burial in Wright Cemetery

The last rites were held for Mrs. Scott SMITH Sunday at 2 o'clock from the home, nine miles southeast of the city. Rev. G. W. Pool conducted the services which were very impressive. He used as his text "For To Me To Live is Christ and to Die is Gain."

The esteem in which Mrs. SMITH was held by her many friends was expressed in the great profusion of floral offerings banked about the casket. The music was furnished by Ebenezer Ladies, Miss Clara Fry, Mrs. Lyda Grant, Mrs. Elsie Fry Mrs. Mary Droz, Mrs. Helen Fry, Mrs. John R. Keller. They sang "Going Down the Valley" and "In The Garden."

Interment was made in the Wright cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry MAHON, Ralph MAHON, Irwin SMITH, Oliver EDWARDS Harold Webber and Kester Jones.

Those from a distance were Ed and Walter SMITH of Ottumwa, nephews of Mrs. SMITHs, Theodore and Miss Corrine Oriez of Washington.
