Rites set for M. HECKETHORN

Mervin L. HECKETHORN, 66, 806 W. Washington, died at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson County Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Behner Funeral Home. The Rev. D.O. Van Dyne will officiate and burial will be in Wright Cemetery southeast of Fairfield on the Glasgow Road.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

HECKETHORN had spent most of his life in Jefferson County engaged in farming and as a self-employed carpenter.

Mervin L. HECKETHORN was born March 25, 1918 (sic - 1917), in Jefferson County. He was the son of Henry and Blanche SIMMONS HECKETHORN.

He was married to Bessie Irene SCHULTZ June 3, 1939, in Memphis, Mo. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters and four sons: Jean SPALLA and Kathy WINLAND, both of Fairfield; Elmer HECKETHORN, Pleasant Plain; Harry HECKETHORN, Fairfield; Richard HECKETHORN, Pleasant Plain; and Stanley HECKETHORN, Fairfield.

Also 20 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister' (sic) Harold HECKETHORN, Ottumwa and Vern HECKETHORN, Birmingham; and Dorothy WREN, Cleveland, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a grandson.
