Gladys M. CLINGAN, 99, of Parkview Care Center, died at 2:40 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 1994, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Burial will be in Wright Cemetery on Glasgow Road. Family visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until noon Monday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to First Christian Church.
Mrs. CLINGAN was born May 20, 1895, in Ollie, the daughter of Charles and Osee Ivy FYE BOTTGER. She married George Alvin CLINGAN on June 21, 1916, in Sigourney. He died June 13, 1973. They farmed in the Ollie area before moving to a farm in the Fairfield area of Jefferson County in 1936. She was a farm homemaker, and gardening was a favorite pastime. She was a member of First Christian Church.
Surviving are five sons, Charles, Omer and Franklin, all of Fairfield, Dale of Iowa City, Dean of Hedrick; three daughters, Maxine Hoadley RANDALL and Betty COFFIN, both of Fairfield, Jean Arlene BESS of Davenport; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Two sons in infancy, three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two brothers, Herald BOTTGER and Frank BOTTGER, preceded her in death.
