OBITUARY.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred X. BROWN and two daughters, Lenora and Eva, who died as victims of the terrible Rock Island wreck at Gladbrook, Iowa, March 21, 1910, were buried Wednesday afternoon at the Wright cemetery near this city, where one large grave received their remains and the members of the family are not separated even in death.

Mr. BROWN was born in the city of Quebec, Canada, 46 years ago and was of Irish parentage. He came to the United States at the age of 12 years and had since claimed this land as his home. He had the advantages of only a common school education.

At the age of 36 in Wichita, Kan., he was united in marriage to Miss Rose KELTNER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry B. KELTNER of this city. After several years' residence in hte (sic) Kansas city they moved to Ogden tUah, (sic) where they spent a few years and then moved to Ottumwa, where Mr. BROWN established and successfully conducted a candy business. Later he moved to Fairfield engaging in the same business and still later the family moved to Waterloo, where a most successful trade had been built up.

To Mr. and Mrs. BROWN were born four daughters, two of whom, Dora and Vera, survive the family. The other two,--Lenora and Eva, and their mother preceded the father in death only a few hours.

Mr. BROWN is survived by four brothers, John, George, Edward and Henry, and two sisters, Mrs. Dora BROWN and Mrs. Catherine JACKSON.

Rose KELTNER-BROWN was born in Jefferson county near Glasgow about 40 years ago and is survived by six brothers, Clarence of Salt Lake City, Utah; Charles of Chand, Okla.; David of Waterloo; Delmar of Ottumwa; Frank and William of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Molly McKENSIE of Ottumwa, besides her aged parents.

Lenora BROWN was born 12 years ago and Eva six years ago, both in Ottumwa.

The funeral of this family was held Wednesday afternoon, March 23, at the Christian church in this city, the last services being in charge of Rev. G. W. Burch.
