Bert Boyd BLOOMQUIST, 88, 602 W. Jefferson Ave., died at 7:09 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 1995, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Peter G. Drever Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Wright Cemetery southeast of Fairfield. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home, followed by family visitation from 7:30 to 8:30. A memorial has been established.
BLOOMQUIST was born Oct. 11, 1906, in Glendale, Iowa, the son of Charles and Christina HANSEN BLOOMQUIST. On July 30, 1936, he married Laurel O. WATSON in Fairfield. She died June 28, 1979. He had lived all but 15 years of his life in the Fairfield community. He had lived in Ottumwa and worked at John Morrell and Co. A retired farmer, he had farmed in Cedar Township, Jefferson County. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and a 50-year member of Clinton Masonic Lodge AF and AM 15 in Fairfield.
Surviving are a son, Louie G. of Wapello; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, John of Keosauqua, Earl of Birmingham, Bob of New York; and a sister, Eva SPEER of Agency. He was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters, Christine, Ida, Ellen, Michael, Jesse, Mary, Alex, Teckla, Carl, Benjamin, Leonard and Anna.
