Mary COOMBS WINSELL was born December 22, 1836 in Fayette County Pennsylvania. In 1846 her parents moved to Ohio. Three years later they moved to Iowa and settled on the Tobias Moore farm, April 1, 1850. And she spent the rest of her life within a radius of five miles, where her parents first settler (sic). And has resided on the home farm over sixty-five year. She was united in marriage to Andrew T. WINSELL in 1857. To this union were born eight children; six sons and two daughters.

Her husband Andrew T. WINSELL, died in 1902. One son, Adam, died in infancy; George W. died in 1888; Will Y. in 1906; leaving James of Miller, South Dakota, Sarah, of Vilas, Colorado, Dr. Frank of Blairstown, Iowa and Ella and Rankin at home, to mourn the loss of a grand and good mother. Besides the children there are eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; one brother, John COOMBS, of Keosauqua, and one sister, Mrs. E. R. KIMBAL of Ottumwa.

She united with the Protestant Methodist church in 1869. Later with the M. E. church, in 1894 in which she lived a member until the time of her death, January 29, 1921.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Ellis of Douds. Interment was in Winsell cemetery, near the home.
