... William and Anna COPELAND, of Adair county, are at home. They were called home by the serious illness of their sister Etna, who, the doctors think, can hardly recover.

... Death has again shown his work in our midst by taking from among us Etna, daughter of J. W. COPELAND. She will be sadly missed from the home circle and by her associates and classmates, as see (sic - she) was loved by all. The remains were interred in the Winsell cemetery, near Independent. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Robertson, of the Episcopal church.

DES MOINES TOWNSHIP ITEMS.

... We regret to chronicle the death of Miss Etna COPELAND, which occurred recently at the home of her parents in Des Moines township. Miss COPELAND had been ill for some time with typhoid fever and pneumonia. Deceased was about seventeen years old and was an estimable and intelligent young lady, esteemed by all who knew her. She was buried in the graveyard at Winsell's chapel, on Thursday, January 26th. The funeral service was preached by Rev. Robinson on the day of the funeral, and was attended by a large number of people.
