Pleasant Plain.

… Robert EMRY and family were called here from Cedar Rapids last Friday on account of the death of Mrs. Susannah NORDYKE. Mrs. NORDYKE was an aunt of Mr. EMRY. …

… We are sorry to note the death and burial of Aunt Susie NORDYKE. She was born in Indiana in October, 1828 and died at the home of Charley Nicholson south of this place Wednesday, March 4th. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 o'clock, conducted by Mr. Frazier, of Indiana. Interment was made in the Walnut cemetery.

OBITUARY.

Susannah NORDYKE passed away at her home south of Pleasant Plain March 4th.

Susannah HODSON, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth HODSON, was born in Randolph County, Ind., October 16, 1828. She, with her parents, came to Iowa in 1841.

In 1847 she was united in marriage with Soloman NORDOKE (sic - NORDYKE). To this union two children were born, both of them dying in infancy. Her husband died Feb. 9, 1892. She lived a widow 22 years, being at the time of her death, eighty-five years, four months and eighteen days old.

She was a Friend by birthright and exemplified the Christian life by the kind and neighborly way in which she lived.

She leaves to mourn her death an aged sister, Mrs. Ruth EMRY of Pleasant Plain; several nephews and nieces, besides many neighbors and friends.

Funeral services conducted by Elihu Frazier, a minister from Ohio, assisted by G. A. Deshler, the pastor were held at at Walnut church (sic) Friday at 2 p.m. Interment was made beside her husband in the cemetery near the church.
