Mrs. Elizabeth DAVIS died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. C. GOBBLE, near Perlee. Mrs. DAVIS was the grandmothər (sic) of Mrs. A. W. JAQUES, who had been at her grandmother's bedside the past two days. Mrs. DAVIS was aged 93 years (sic - 90 yrs), and has been a resident of the county many years. Mr. JAQUES went out to Perlee on the Rock Island local this morning to attend the funeral.

Old Jefferson County Resident Dead.

Mrs. Elizabeth DAVIS, who resided near Perlee with her daughter, Mrs. W. C. GOBBLE, died there last Thursday, aged 93 years (sic). Mrs. DAVIS is the grandmother of Mrs. A. W. JAQUES, who was with her in her last illness. Mr. JAQUES went to Perlee to attend the funeral. Mrs. DAVIS was an old settler of Jefferson county, and was probably one of the oldest women in this county, being of the same age as Mrs. Mary Frush, who died last week.

She Was a Pioneer Woman.

Mrs. Elizabeth KEECH DAVIS, who died at the home of Mrs. W. C. GOBBLE, a daughter, in Penn township the 10th inst., had been a resident of Jefferson county since 1849. She was also one of the oldest women in the county. She was born in Chester county, Penn., October 19th, 1813, and was married there February 1st, 1832, to Garret B. DAVIS. She was the mother of seven children, five of whom are living--Charles and Caroline near Jamestown, N. D., C. H. at St. Paul, Minn. Albert at Fremont and Mrs. GOBBLE. Mrs. DAVIS had many friends among the earlier settlers of Jefferson county. Funeral services were held Friday by Rev. Joseph Soper of the Friends' church, with which denomination Mrs. DAVIS was identified in early life.

Mr. GOBBLE and his family desire to return thanks to the friends and neighbors for kindness and sympathy during the last illness of Mrs. DAVIS.

Death of a Pioneer Woman.

Mrs. Elizabeth KEECH DAVIS died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. C. GOBBLE, March 10th, 1904. She was born in Chester County, Pa., Oct. 19th, 1813, came to Jefferson County, Iowa, in 1849, and has resided in the county ever since. She was married to Garret B. DAVIS Feb. 1st, 1838, she was the mother of seven children, five of whom are living. Charles DAVIS and Caroline SMITH residing near Jamestown, North Dakota, C. H. DAVIS of St. Paul, Minnesota; Albert DAVIS, of Fremont. Iowa; and Susan GOBBLE, of Perlee, Iowa. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Joseph Sopher at the Friends church in Penn Township, of which church she was a member in her early childhood. Interment was made in the cemetery near the church (sic - Walnut Creek Friends Cemetery).
