by Mrs. Edna Crile… Mrs. Henry LECHNER was called to Brooklyn, Iowa by the illness of her mother, Mrs. Mary COURTNEY, who is spending the winter with her son, C. V. COURTNEY and family. Henry LECHNER and son, Norman, spent Sunday at the COURTNEY home and report her in a serious condition with pneumonia.

Page EIGHT, Column 3SERVICES FOR MRS. COURTNEY HELD TODAY
Funeral services were held this afternoon for Mrs. Mary COURTNEY, 76, Brighton resident for the past twelve years, who passed away Wednesday noon at the home of her son, Clark V. COURTNEY at Brooklyn, Iowa. The Brighton woman was a victim of pneumonia.
Mrs. COURTNEY, who came to Brighton from Stockport, had left her home several months ago to spend the winter with her son in Brooklyn.
She was born at Rushford, Minn. September 23, 1867, and was married to Jacob W. COURTNEY at Clyde, Kans. The couple were the parents of 13 children, 9 of whom are living.
Mr. COURTNEY passed away 12 years ago (sic - in 1927).
They are survived by the following children: Mrs. Everett GARRETT, Brighton; Frank A. COURTNEY, Muscatine; Mrs. Leota BROOKHART, Letts; Clark COURTNEY, Brooklyn; Mrs. Walter HEYDE, Winfield; Herschel and Calvin COURTNEY, Fairfield; Mrs. Norbert KURTZ, East Pleasant Plain; and Mrs. Henry LECHNER, Brighton.
Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to the Henry LECHNER home in Brighton Thursday afternoon and funeral services were held this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Methodist church in Brighton with the Rev. E. E. Voss in charge.
Burial took place in the Walnut cemetery near Pleasant Plain.
