CORRESPONDENCE.

Salina.

… The remains of John HOAGLIN, the man who owned the first store in Salina, was brought through here Saturday on the way to Upper Richwoods cemetery, where interment wa made (sic). Mr. HOAGLIN was ninety-five or ninety-six years of age and has several sons and daughters; one son a prominent merchant of Mt Pleasant, another of Hillsboro and others at different places. Mr. HOAGLIN had been blind and deaf for several years and lived with a daughter in Burlington when death called him (note: in Des Moines Co., IA). He will be remembered by many of the old settlers in this locality.

THE DEATHS IN ONE YEAR
Following is the List of Old Settlers Who Have Died In the Past Year.

… John HOAGLIN died at the home of his daughter in Burlington, Iowa, and was buried in the Green Cemetery (sic - Upper Richwood Cemetery) in this county August 19, 1906. He was the first merchant of Salina. Age 95 years (sic - 90 yrs).
