Died, at the home of Carl Hawk, in Buchanan township, on the 4th inst., Mrs. Sophia HERRING, aged seventy-four years, four months, twenty-one days. Deceased arose in the morning apparently in her usual health, lighted her lamp and partially dressed herself. She was suddenly stricken with hemorrhage of the lungs, fell to the floor and was dead when found. Four children, three daughters and a son, survive her. She had many friends who will be saddened by the news of her death, for she was a mother to all around her. The remains were interred in the Richwoods cemetery by the side of those of her husband (note: Jacob H. HERRING who died in 1878). The family of Mrs. HERRING desire to extend their heartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors who were so kind to them in their bereavement, and especially to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hawk.
