DIED--On the 27th February, 1855, at the house of her father, Mr. Isaac GARMOE, Susannah GARMOE, aged 25 years, 8 months and 20 days.
The deceased was a kind sister and an affectionate daughter; but above all, she was a Christian, trained in the school of sanctified affliction. The virtues of Christian patience and sweet submission to all of Heaven's will, were exemplified in every stage of her tedious and distressing illness. As the one wore away the resources of life by its stealthy and fatal advances, the others gathered fresh beauty and fragrance, fitting her chastened spirit for the society of a sainted mother and a glorious Redeemer, beyond the Jordan of death. For months she had calmly awaited that blessed moments (sic), when from his throne her Savior should bear her away from the vale of sorrows to the Canaan (note: second 'a' typeset inverted) of repose and of glory; and when the trying crisis came, she calmly bade farewell to father, brothers and sisters, and charged them to meet her mother at the right hand of Jesus--then gently breathed away her spirit into the bosom of everlasting love.
Farewell conflicting hopes and fears,
Where lights and shades alternate dwell,
How bright the unchanged morn appears!
Farewell, inconstant world, farewell.
Life's duty done, as sinks the clay,
Light from its load the spirit flies,
While heaven and earth combine to say,
"How blest the righteous when he dies."~~~~
