OBITUARY.
Editors Ledger:--Mrs. Lucy MINTER died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. N. S. MILLER, in Penn township, March 30th. Deceased was born in Kentucky October 25th, 1819. Her earlier years were spent near Petersburg, Ill., where she was married to William COATS. They came to Jefferson county a few years later, and the husband died here in 1857. In April, 1861, Mrs. COATS was married to David K. MINTER, who died in December, 1888. She was the mother of eight children by her first marriage, three of whom now live in this county, Mrs. N. S. MILLER, Mrs. Sarah HENRY and J. W. COATS. Owen K. MINTER, a son by the second marriage, survives his parents and now lives at Dakota City, Nebraska. Mrs. MINTER had been in fairly good health for one of her years, and died from an attack of la grippe, after an illness of four days. She was an excellent, christian woman, an affectionate and loving wife and mother and a devoted friend. She will be sadly missed in the community in which she had resided for nearly half a century. The remains were interred in the Upper Richwoods cemetery, and the funeral services were conducted by Rev. Charles Coop.
