Ira WALTERS Is Taken In Death

LOCKRIDGE, Ia. -- Ira WALTERS, 79, Lockridge, passed away Saturday at 5:45 p.m. at the Jefferson county hospital in Fairfield. He had been in failing health for sometime (sic) and was admitted to the hospital last week.

Last rites were scheduled for today at 2 p.m. at the Raymond funeral home in Fairfield with the Rev. Merle Hill of Williamsburg officiating. Interment was to be in Union cemetery south of Parsonsville.

Ira WALTERS was born Nov. 18, 1879, the son of Jacob and Mary SCHELLEY WALTERS. He was reared and educated in DeWitt county. He moved to Jefferson county and was married to Nellie ELLINGSWORTH on Dec. 10, 1925.

He lived in Jefferson county for 34 years, was a retired farmer and a member of Bethesda church.

Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Edward, Bloomington, Ill.; and a daughter, Mrs. Shirley BITTLE, Stockport. He is also survived by two grandsons and a brother, Lawrence WALTERS, Weldon, Ill.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
