Thomas Burdett REDDICK, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon REDDICK of Fort Madison, was reported missing on their farm about 7 p.m. Monday evening, after last being seen around 4 that afternoon. Sheriff's officers found dirt around a cistern had been disturbed and the Denmark fire department was called to pump some 12-15 feet of water out. Young Thomas' body was found at the bottom of the cistern about 10 p.m. that evening. He was born July 8, 1961. He leaves a brother, John Albert REDDICK, a half-brother, Jimmy WILLS, a sister Debra Mae REDDICK; grandmothers, Mrs. Florence JOHNSON of Burlington and Mrs. Rebecca REDDICK of Illinois City, IL, in addition to two aunts and six uncles. Final rites were at the Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison, and interment was in the Union Cemetery near Fairfield.

A similar story appears in the Keokuk, IA, "Daily Gate City" from the same day, May 6, 1969 (Page 2, Columns 7 and 8), noting that interment was in the Union Cemetery near Burlington; however, there is a gravestone for Thomas in the Union Cemetery near Fairfield. This story also notes that Thomas was preceded by two grandfathers and a half-sister. "From Grandma" is noted on Thomas' stone, although it indicates he was born in 1962 as opposed to the 1961 date reported by both stories.
