WILLIAM PARSONS

William PARSONS, well known farmer who resided on a farm 9½ miles southeast of this city, passed away yesterday afternoon at 3:30 oclock at the Jefferson County hospital where he had been ill for a few days. He had been ailing for some time and became seriously ill last Thursday.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 oclock from the home in charge of Dr. U. S. Smith of the Methdodist church. Interment will be in the Union cemetery.

Mr. PARSONS was 58 years years old Feb. 8. His wife, who was formerly Miss Ada Belle FULTON, preceded him in death, Feb. 26 (sic - 25th), 1927. Also a son Charles PARSONS died Jan. 20, 1929. He leaves four sons: H. W. of Cedar Rapids, Dale of Omaha, Neb., Claire of Fairfield and John of Cedar Rapids, all of whom were with him during his last illness and death. He also leaves four grandchildren: Jacquelin PARSONS of this city, Kathryn PARSONS of Russell, Harry PARSONS of Cedar Rapids and Billy PARSONS, who has made his home with his grandparents since he was a small child. The grandson, Harry had also made his home with them until two years ago. Three brothers and a sister also survive: J. R. PARSONS of Superior, Neb., Mrs. Diana WHITE, Louise and Jesse PARSONS of Mankato, Kans.

Note: William is shown as James W. PARSONS in his marriage record; however Ada's obituary states she was married to William PARSONS. He had the middle name of James in some records, other records (such as his death certificate) identify him as James William PARSONS. Evidently he used the names interchangeably.
