… Mrs. Catherine RILEY died at the home of her son, John ELLIS, Saturday morning; her funeral was conducted by Rev. S. T. Horton at the church and interment was made in the Union cemetery; Mrs. RILEY was seventy-six years old and had lived in this neighborhood almost sixty years; her first husband, Mr. ELLIS, was a pioneer school teacher; she was a good woman and esteemed by all who knew her. …

Glendale.

After a short illness Mrs. Catherine RILEY died Saturday at the home of her son, John ELLIS, her only living child. Deceased was 79 years old and had lived in this neighborhood almost 60 years. Her first husband's name was ELLIS, a pioneer teacher. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. S. R. Horten (sic - S. T. Horton) at the church and interment was made in the Union cemetery. …

Note: First husband, Charles Giles ELLIS, died in 1857 and is buried in Pattison Cemetery. Catherine subsequently married Patrick RILEY on September 19, 1860; he died in 1881, and she is buried with him in Union Cemetery. Catherine's maiden name was HARMON, and her age is noted on her gravestone as 78 years, 7 months and 8 days.
