Floyd E. PARSONS dies

Floyd E. PARSONS, 83, of Crawfordsville, formerly of Jefferson County, died Sunday at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA) after a serious illness of three weeks.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sherman-Eden Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Harlan Winter officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Fairfield. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at the funeral home.

PARSONS was born Nov. 9, 1897, in Jefferson County, the son of George and Mary LIBLAN (sic - LIBLIN) PARSONS. Reared and educated in Jefferson County, he married Hazel L. RIZOR on March 4, 1924 at Fairfield. She died March 28, 1976. A retired farmer, PARSONS lived in Jefferson County until moving to the Olds-Crawfordsville area in 1949.

Surviving are three sons, Orville of Crawfordsville, Everett of Hurdland, Mo., Harold of Coal Valley, Ill.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one brother, Russell PARSONS of Richland. Two brothers, a sister and one granddaughter preceded him in death.
