OBITUARY

MRS. SARAH MAXWELL

Mrs. Sarah E. MAXWELL was born August 19, 1848 in Holmes county, Ohio. She was the daughter and only child of Mr. and Mrs. William LOGSDON who have preceded her in death several years ago. They came to this county seventy-two years ago and settled on a farm in Round Prairie township, south of Glendale in which they continuously resided until death came. Mrs. MAXWELL has been a resident of our county almost her entire life November 15, 1866 she was united in marriage to Isaac MAXWELL and they lived a happy wedded life until death removed the husband and father, they being the parents of three children. The son, John dying August 25, 1923. The remaining ones being, Mrs. Jennie GRABER and Mrs. Etta HORTON, several grand children and great grandchildren who today mourn the loss of a good mother.

Mrs. MAXWELL was converted in early life and joined the Free Methodist church. Her religion was not a cloak to wear to church but formed a part of her every day life, as she lived a consistent Christian life, ever bearing her sufferings with patience and resignation.

Although she never had a very robust constitution; yet her last illness was of less than four weeks duration. All that medical skill and the best of nursing with her daughter constantly at her bedside could do was done but death was the victor.

Twenty-four hours before her death she slipped into that realm of unconsciousness that lies between life and death and her last moments on earth were more like a tired child falling to sleep so peaceful and calm. Therefore weep not, she was ready and willing to go and expressed herself to the writer only a few days before her death. "I am like that one of old I have fought a good fight and I have just about finished my course." She seemed to close here eyes with a smile of satisfaction which will ever live in the memories of those present at her bedside.

She will ever be remembered as a true-hearted friend, kind and generous neighbor and a tender and devoted mother, so why should we mourn. She is at rest.

The family desire to express their thanks to their neighbors and friends who have been so kind to them in their home of sorrow.
