Marian Dickinson, 81, of Richland, died early Saturday, April 16, 2005, at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Woolson Friends Church south of Richland, with the Rev. Angela Hancock and the Rev. Carl Ratcliff officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 2-3:30 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

Memorials can be made to Woolson Friends Church and the Richland Public Library.

Mrs. Dickinson was born Feb. 25, 1924, near Dublin, Iowa, the daughter of Walter L. and Ada I. Singleton Hotle. She married Raymond Dickinson June 22, 1947, in Richland.

She was raised in Dublin and graduated from Richland High School in 1942. She graduated from Parsons College in 1961, with a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education. She had additional education in library science.

She was a school teacher for 32 years as an elementary teacher and a librarian. She taught at Centennial Country School near Richland, Rubio, White Hawk, near Brighton, Keota and Pekin school districts. She lived in Richland her entire married life.

Mrs. Dickinson's hobbies included antiques, bird watching, traveling, reading and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of Richland; two sons, Mike Bott and wife Linda of Fort Dodge and Larry Smith and wife Diana of Birmingham; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Beverly; one brother, Walter Hotle Jr.; and one sister, Wanda Hotle Derby.
