Vickie Baker Gillis, 65, of Sparta, Ga., died Friday, April 1, 2005.

The funeral was Thursday, April 7, 2005, at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Milledgeville, Ga., with the Rev. Fernando Verduzco officiating. Burial was in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.

Memorials can be made to Seventh-day Adventist Veteran's Ministry, PO Box 848, Milledgeville, GA 31057.

Mrs. Gillis was born Aug. 16, 1939, near Fairfield, the daughter of Fred and Jennie Howe Baker. She married George W. Gillis.

She was an over-the-road truck driver and a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she was active in the veterans' home ministry.

Survivors include her husband of Sparta; three daughters, Regina Nieft of Milledgeville, Cathy Gillis of Burlington and Lori Peterman of Douglas, Wyo.; four sons, Raymond Smith of Bloomington, Ga., Ricky Gillis and Charles Gillis, both of Burlington, and Lonnie Gillis of Weaver; three sisters, Margo Jones of Branson, Mo., Jolene Jones of Triplette, Mo., and Sandra Frakes of Ollie; two brothers, James Baker of Trenton, Mo., and Johnny Baker of Montana; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
