RichlandRay Jennings MOURER, 95, of Richland, died late Friday July 19, 2019, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. He was born December 30, 1923, in Rubio to Amos Ernest and Margaret Grace JENNINGS MOURER. He graduated from Richland High School in 1941 and from Grinnell College after the war.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Ray married Winnie McNEESE in Grinnell October 27, 1946. She died December 4, 2008. They started farming in 1950 near Richland where Ray continued to reside until July 1, 2019, when he moved to Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield. Ray attended the Richland United Methodist Church and had a great love of family, friends and farming. He served on the Washington County Conservation Board and received the State of Iowa Conservation Award in 1972.
Ray is survived by his children: Jill (Ed) SEEVERS of Kansas City, MO, Christy (Phil) McCORMICK of Mt. Pleasant, Kirk (Shelley) LEITZAU-MOURER of Reeds Spring, MO and Brett (Ana) MOURER of Tampa, FL, 8 grandchildren: Trisha MEYER, Derek SEEVERS, Matt, Doug, and Mark McCORMICK, Cory and Tate LEITZAU-MOURER and Alexandra EVANS, 8 great grandchildren: Adin, Ben, Bailey, Rowan, Luke, Fia, Kaia and Lucy and one sister, Maxine KLOPHENSTEIN of Washington, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one sister, Marjorie GUY.
Funeral services will b e held (sic) at 10:30 A.M. Saturday July 27, 2019, at the Richland United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Elrod and Rev. Harlan Van Voorst officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Friends Cemetery with Military Honors by Richland American Legion Post No. 504. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 7:30 P.M. Friday evening at Gould Funeral Home in Richland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Richland United Methodist Church and may be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at: 22630 Old Highway 160, Reeds Spring, MO 65737.
