FairfieldPhilora Alda YARDLEY, age 88 of Fairfield, passed away July 13, 2019, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center.
Visitation for family & friends will be 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Behner Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2019 at Fairfield First Baptist Church with Pastor John Kermott officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Fairfield First Baptist Church or Hospice Compassus. Cards and memorials may be mailed to Jan BAIRD, 2385 Middle Glasgow Road, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.
Philora was born April 23, 1931 in Ollie, IA to Minor and Ressie (ESTES) RUGGLES. She married James YARDLEY on July 3, 1949. He passed away March 31, 1988 in Fairfield.
Philora worked 24 years at Jefferson County Hospital as Food Service Supervisor. She looked forward to going to church at the First Baptist Church where she served on the church council and attended JF Fellowship. Philora also attended the Maxine Bates Circle. Some of her interests were collecting dalmatian figurines, reading and gardening. Philora kept her house, cars and belongings all spotless. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune on TV and loved her animals.
Philora will be missed by her children, Ronald (Janet) YARDLEY of Duluth, MN, Jan (Randy) BAIRD of Fairfield and son-in-law, Peter BEDDIA (Sandy) of Chambersburg, PA; 8 grandchildren, Jason BEDDIA, Brandon BEDDIA, Alison BEDDIA, Kristen SNYDER, James YARDLEY, Greg YARDLEY, Mindy STULTZ and Brian BAIRD; 11 great grandchildren; and one brother, Enoch RUGGLES of Mt. Pleasant, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Minor and Ressie; husband, James; daughter, Patricia BEDDIA; and sister, Lucille CHAPMAN.
