James CUMMINGS died at his home in this city Sabbath afternoon. He was over seventy years old and had been a resident of this city for over 30 years.

Note: Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, with no stone, in Lot SDof17-003, with wife Eliza MINOR CUMMINGS who died in 1894.

This is not the same James CUMMINGS who lived in Jefferson County at one time and moved to Osceola, IA, and died October 3, 1899, in Murray, IA - he is buried in Field Cemetery (a/k/a Prairie Grove Cemetery) in Clarke Co., IA, with his wife Sarah Dierdoff. James and Sarah were the parents of William, Josie CUMMINGS WILSON, Anna CUMMINGS FIVECOAT, and Clara CUMMINGS FIVECOAT; James' surviving siblings were Mrs. Rachel DARE of Osceola and Mrs. Daniel McDONALD of Fairfield, and Samuel, William and John of Fairfield.
