MRS. LUCINDA CUNNINGHAM DEAD.

Mrs. Lincindia (sic) CUNNINGHAM died this morning at 5:30 o'clock at the home of her brother J. E. CUMMINGS on South Court street after a short illness. She was 88 years old and her death was due to old age(.) Mrs. CUNNINGHAM had made her home in Fairfield for over half a century and was well known.

Lucinda CUMMINGS CUNNINGHAM was born in Lexington, Va., September 27th, 1822. In 1843 she came with relatives to Fairfield. In early womanhood she was married to James CUNNINGHAM who died several years ago. To them were born two children, Allen and Mary, both of whom are also dead.

Mrs. CUNNINGHAM was a member of the Methodist church and a faithful attendant until recent years when the infirmities of age forced her to spend the greater part of her time at home.

Mrs. CUNNINGHAM is survived by three brothers, Samuel, William and J. E. CUMMINGS all of this city. The funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the J. E. CUMMINGS home on South Court street. Dr. Thomas Osborn will conduct the funeral and he will be assisted by Rev. W. W. Mongtomery. The interrment (sic) will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

LUCINDA JANE CUNNINGHAM.

Lucinda Jane, daughter of Wm. L. and Sarah CUMMINGS, was born in Rockbridge County, Va., Sept. 27, 1822. She left her native state in 1835, coming to Parke County, Ind. She lived here ten years when the family came to Iowa, settling in Jefferson County. She has since been a resident of this county.

She was married to James A. CUNNINGHAM July 22, 1845. Four children, three sons and one daughter, were born to them, one son and the daughter being now deceased. Mr. CUNNINGHAM died in 1877.

She is survived by three brothers, William C. and Samuel of this county, and John E. of this city. She made her home with her brother, John E., for some years preceding her death. Mrs. CUNNINGHAM was a member of the First Methodist church in this city for some years. ...

... The end came peacefully for “Aunt Lucy” at 5:30 a.m. Sat., Sept. 2.
