Ruby L. Dorothy, 70, of Mt. Pleasant died at 1:40 A.M. Tuesday April 5, 2005 at Nelson Nursing Home, Fairfield. She was born June 17, 1934 at Garden Grove to Forrest Roy and Ruby Phipps Snyder. She married Richard G. Dorothy Nov. 1, 1953 in Danville. She lived in Garden Grove and Humeston, moved to Stockport as a youth, graduated from Stockport High School, attended Burlington School of Nursing, lived in Richland and in Mt. Pleasant since 1995.

She worked in sales for Mr. First-Aid Co. and several years in setting up Head Start programs in southeast Iowa. She was a member of Ollie Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, two sons, Richard D. Dorothy and wife, Cheryl of Ainsworth and William "Doug" Dorothy and wife, Jan of Lowell, AR, two daughters, Belinda Rosenbaum of Des Moines and Donna Dorothy of Oxford, a daughter-in-law, Virginia Dorothy of Virginia Beach, VA, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, a brother, Keith Snyder of Stockport and 2 sisters, Jeri Pratt of Chillicothe, MO and Louise Lanam of Quarryville, PA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Norman "Jay" Dorothy, 2 brothers, Forrest and Norman "Butch" Snyder, a sister, Donna Carrico and a son-in-law, Robert Rosenbaum.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 P.M. Sunday April 10, 2005 in Ollie Baptist Church, Ollie, Pastor Connie Chatier and Rev. Charles Comfort officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial of cremains in Spencer Cemetery, Stockport. Visitation will open at 2 P.M. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with family present 4-5 P.M. Memorials to Ollie Baptist Church or Hospice of Central Iowa may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 704 South Adams Ct., Mt. Pleasant 52641.
