W. T. HECKETHORNE

Worth T. HECKETHORNE (sic) passed away this morning at the county home at the age of 85 years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 oclock from the Murray Funeral home. Burial wil take place in Fidler (sic - Fiedler) cemetery near Glasgow.

Mr. HECKETHORNE was born September 12, 1845. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Anna SHODELL (sic - SHONDEL) of this city, he also leaves othe relatives.

Note: Spouse was Rachel J. HALL - Sherri researches the HALL lineage.

Worth J. HECKETHORN, son of Geo. And Catherine HECKETHORN, was born at Winchester, Iowa, Sept. 12, 1845, and died at 11:30 Sunday night Feb. 1, 1931. In the year 1866 he was united in marriage to Rachel HALL, who preceded him in death May 20, 1893. To this union ten children: five survive — Norris, Mrs. Ettie HAVNER, Mrs. Anna SHONDEL of Fairfield, Iowa, Henry of Ottumwa, Iowa, Mrs. Ollie SHONDEL of Centerville, Iowa; five preceded him in death: Mrs. Ella GIBERSON, Estes, Fannie and Zinie HOMAR, all of Stockport. He was united in marriage again to Martha SHONDEL and to this union was born two children: Mrs. Zenith PEARSON, Mrs. Lula PARDIE of Springfield, Ill. One daughter died in infancy. He also has one brother, N. E. HECKETHORN of Parma, Idaho, and one sister, Mrs. Olive PARKER of Fairfield; 32 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Mr. HECKETHORN was a blacksmith and carpenter, and at one time ran the Grist Mill, 12 miles southeast of Fairfield. He crossed the plains in 1861 in a covered wagon when the Indians were still wild..... He was laid to rest by the side of his first wife in the Fiddler (sic - Fiedler) Cemetery near Glasgow 12 miles southeast of Fairfield, Iowa.
