Vernell E. Anders, 89, of Plano, Texas, and formerly of Farmington, died at 7:15 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2005, at Plano Medical Center in Plano.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Farmington, with the Rev. Philip Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.

Memorials can be made to the Farmington EMTs or the First Baptist Church of Farmington.

Friends may call after noon Thursday at Hofbauer-Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington, with the family present from 7-8 p.m.

Mrs. Anders was born Oct. 19, 1915, the daughter of Henry Roth and Cora B. Christy. She married Fred Anders Oct. 19, 1943 in Kahoka, Mo. He died June 11, 1994.

She worked as a cook for the Harmony School District for 24 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Farmington and the Ladies Missionary Circle.

Survivors include two sons, James Anders and wife Donna of Rockford, Mich. and Jon Anders and wife Karen of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren; one brother, Irvin Roth of Farmington; and one sister, Margie Wells of Fort Madison.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Melvin Roth.
