Samuel Robert Spray
March 28, 2005

Samuel Robert Spray, 84, of Mount Pleasant and formerly of Hillsboro, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

The funeral was held today at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Burial was in Hillsboro Cemetery.

Memorials may be designated to the Hillsboro Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

Mr. Spray was born Feb. 14, 1921, in Hillsboro, the son of Max and Myrtle White Spray. He married Hope Bye Feb. 14, 1951 in Kirksville, Mo.

He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1938. He farmed outside Hillsboro all of his life and also was a feed and seed dealer.

Mr. Spray was a member of the Hillsboro Masons and served several years on the Harmony school board.

He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed his family.

Survivors include his wife of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Becky Ewing and husband Lee of Stockport and DeeAnn Patterson and husband Mark of Hillsboro; two brothers, Tom Spray of Billings, Mont., and Max Spray of Taylor Ridge, Ill., three sisters, Margaret McCabe of Burlington, Donna Jean Ruhe of Fairfield Bay, Ark., and Clarice Johnson of Stockport; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Spray was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Isaacson and Julia Landess; and two brothers, John and Raymond Spray.
