MRS. SMITH, 88

DIES SUDDENLY

Mrs. A G SMITH, 88, well known Jefferson county pioneer resident, passed away suddenly this morning at 8:30 am in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Orin THOMPSON in Kalamazoo, Mich., where she had made her home for some years. She became seriously ill yesterday afternoon.

Services will be held here at the Hoskins funeral home Thursday afternoon at 3pm with burial in the family lot at Lockridge by the side of her husband who preceded her in death seven years ago; and her son, Daid SMITH, who passed away in September. This is the third death in the family within the past year, a daughter, Mrs. David CLARK, having passed away in Boone in June.

Five sons and three daughters survive: W C SMITH of 200 E Washington St., Alex of Salina, Roy of Boone, Harry of Dayton, Ohio, and Ward of Decatur, Mich.; Mrs. Orin THOMPSON of Kalamazoo, Mich., Mrs. Leonard SANDBERG of Burlington, and Mrs. Harold WILDER of Ionia, Mich.

Marion ALLERDICE, daughter of William and Mary ALLERDICE was born in Jefferson County near Lockridge and grew to womanhood in that vicinity. In 1873 she was married to A G SMITH who ran the general store at Lockridge for many years before his retirement some years prior to his death.
