Perry Monfort Taken in Death

Perry H. Monfort, 87, 1101 E. Burlington St., died Sunday at 9:15 a.m. at the Jefferson County hospital where he had been a patient since June 24. He suffered a stroke Saturday.

A lifetime resident of Jefferson county, Monfort farmed for many years. He moved to Fairfield 30 years ago.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral home. The Rev. Donald A. Eagle will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Monfort was born May 28, 1873 in Cedar township, the son of Peter and Nancy Harbert Monfort. He was married May 30, 1896 to Jessie Fiedler. She preceded him in death in August 1940. On Oct. 18, 1941 he was married to Zadia Rowe Bullock.

Monfort was a member of the Ebenezer Christian church. He is survived by his wife and one step-daughter, Mrs. Donald Hunter, Ames. Two step-grandchildren, one niece, and two nephews also survive.
