Gerald Bernard Woerdeman, 56, of Houghton, Ia, died Sunday, February 27, 2005, at 1:44 PM, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Ia.

Mr. Woerdeman was born January 14, 1949, in Ft. Madison, Ia, to John C. Woerdeman and Genevieve Dunn Woerdeman.

His occupation was Staff Productionist at Bridgeway in Keokuk, Ia.

Survivors are his mother, Genevieve Woerdeman of Houghton, Ia; 2 sisters, Elizabeth (Roger) Rea of Omaha, NB, Jolene Woerdeman of Des Moines, Ia; and 1 aunt, Geneva Besser of Washington, Ia. Also surviving are numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Woerdeman was affiliated with St. Johns Catholic Church in Houghton, and Knights of Columbus of Houghton. He was a Journeyman in the Carpenters Union, and a member of the American Paint Horse Assn. He served in the Iowa National Guard for 6 years.

The funeral will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, March 5, 2005, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Houghton, Ia.

Friends may call after 10:00 Saturday at the church with the family meeting friends form 10:30 until the funeral mass at noon.

Link Funeral Home in West Point is in charge of arrangements.

Fr. Gary Beckman will officiate with burial in St. Johns Cemetery in Houghton.

A luncheon at the Knights of Columbus in Houghton will be held following the internment.

Memorials can be made to Brain Cancer Research. Contributions may be left at the church the day of the service or mailed to Link Funeral Home, PO Box 22, West Point, IA 52656.
