Page 3, col. 3.DEATH OF SAMUEL MOUNT. Samuel Mount, a son of Jedediah Mount of this city, died at Red Oak the 10th inst.....Born in Zanesville, O., February 6th 1838, and came to this county with his parents in 1854. He enlisted in Company B, Nineteenth Iowa Infantry, and served with his regiment until the close of the Civil War. In 1869, in this city, he was married to Miss Mary Bloss, who died in 1894. After the close of his army service, Mr. Mount removed to St. Louis, Mo., where he was a trusted employe [sic] of the American Express company for many years and until failing health compelled him to give up active life.....He died at the home of a sister, Mrs. Laura Spry. His remains were brought to this city Sunday. Funeral services were held at the residence of John T. Hoopes, a brother-in-law, on West Broadway, Monday afternoon, and the remains were buried in the Evergreen cemetery.
(Note: A plain soldier’s (GI) stone marks the grave of Samuel Mount, near the stone for Henry Mount’s family: “Sergt. Samuel Mount, Co. B, 19 Ia. Inf.”

Page 2, col. 3.Mrs. John Hoopes was called to Red Oak last week on account of the illness and death of her brother, Samuel Mount. The remains arrived here and were interred in Evergreen Cem. Monday afternoon.
