Helen Irene McLAIN, age 91 of Fairfield passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Jefferson County Health Center.

Visitation for family & friends will be 1:00 - 2:00 pm, Friday, October 5, 2018 at Behner Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Reverend Dianne Brokken officiating. Burial will be in Lockridge Cemetery.

Memorials may made to the donor's choice. Cards and memorials may be mailed to 1876 Libertyville Road, Libertyville, IA 52567.

Helen was born January 15, 1927, in Julesburg, CO to Roy and Hazel (PILCHER) SMITH. She married Cecil McLAIN in Bloomfield. They celebrated 57 years of marriage before he passed away May 30, 2000.

Helen lived in Fairfield for 61 years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and reading. What meant the most to her was spending time with her family, friends and her pets. Helen had a love for all kids.

Left to share Helen's memories are her children, Joseph (Charlotte) McLAIN of Libertyville, IA, Tom McLAIN of Muscatine, IA, Mary (Cliff) CROWL of Altoona, IA, Charlotte HEALY of Des Moines, IA, Kathy (Tom) SIMPSON of Pekin, IL, Mike (Susie) McLAIN of Prophetstown, IL, Steven McLAIN (Susan Rinkert) of Fairfield, IA, Connie (David) JOHNSON of Logan, IA and Lori (Joseph) KYLE of El Paso, TX; 23 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil; 2 granddaughters, Lisa McLAIN, Sarah CROWL; her brother, Howard SMITH; and step brother, Paul SMITH; and step sister, Evelyn SMITH.
