Marie J. KURTZ WARD

SOLON -- Marie J. KURTZ WARD, 68, of Solon, former area resident, died Wednesday, June 1, 1994, at the Solon Nursing Care Center (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

The service will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Brosh Funeral Home in Solon with the Rev. Douglas Peters officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at East Pleasant Plain. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

Mrs. WARD was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Pleasant Plain, the daughter of Gerald and Emma C. LEDGER KURTZ. She graduated from Packwood High School in 1944. She married Stanley T. WARD at Hannibal, Mo. He died Jan. 12, 1982. She lived in the Ottumwa area until moving to the Solon Care Center in May 1990.

Surviving are five daughters, Mary WARD GLOSSER of Ottumwa, C. Nadine STARK, Eva J. DeLANO, both of Cedar Rapids, Sue Ellen SALISBURY of Iowa City, Shelley G. GRAMKE of Memphis, Tenn.; five sons, Steven F. of Apple Valley, Minn., Timothy L., Chris K., Phillip D., all of Ottumwa, Ronald A. of Hannibal, Mo.; and 12 grandchildren. Her parents and two brothers, Herman and Lawrence KURTZ, preceded her in death.
