Emma SUPALLA
FAIRFIELD -- Emma Margaret SUPALLA, 94, a resident of Parkview Care Center in Fairfield, died Wednesday, June 3, 1992, at the center.
She was born March 1, 1898, in Jefferson County to Peter and Catherine FRITZ. She attended the Pleasant Plain Academy and lived most of her life in the Brighton-Pleasant Plain communities before moving to Fairfield.
On Aug. 26, 1919, she married Anthony Leo SUPALLA at the St. Joseph Catholic Church at East Pleasant Plain. She and her husband operated a general store and post office.
SUPALLA was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, the Altar and Rosary Society, American Legion Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Joseph (Maxine) PECK, Fairfield; Mrs. Edward (Hazel) CHUCK, Mason City; Mrs. Dale (Esther) BAIRD, Marshalltown; and Mrs. Phillip (Jean) MESSER, Fort Madison; 18 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Albert (Teresa) PACHA of East Pleasant Plain.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 11, 1977; her parents; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral mass was held today at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. William J. Sullivan officiating. Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery at East Pleasant Palin (sic). An Altar and Rosary Society recitation of the rosary was held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Raymond Funeral Home, and prayers for a Christian wake were at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials have been established to the activity fund at Parkview Care Center or to the memorial of the donor's choice.
