EAST PLEASANT PLAIN -- Anthony Leo SUPALLA, 81, died at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 11 at the Jefferson County hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain. Fr. Louis Leonhardt will officiate.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 13 in the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery. A memorial has been established.
Anthony SUPALLA was born December 13, 1895, in Jefferson county the son of William and Frances DRISH SUPALLA. He married Emma Margaret FRITZ August 26, 1919 and she survives.
He is also survived by four daughters, Mrs. Joseph PECK, East Pleasant Plain; Mrs. Edward CHUCK, Mason City; Mrs. Esther KANE, Marshalltown and Mrs. Phillip MESSER, Fort Madison; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Glenn McCLAIN of Fairfield. He was preceded by 5 brothers, 5 sisters and 5 grandchildren.
SUPALLA was postmaster in Pleasant Plain for 30 years before his retirement. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Fairfield; Brighton American Legion and St. Joseph Cathlic church. He was a veteran of World War I and was decorated with the purple heart.
